How to Set Up Product Siblings in Shopify Using Metafields
Product siblings allow you to link related product variants or similar products under one collection, enhancing customer navigation and improving user experience.
📌 Step 1: Create the Product Sibling Metafield
1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
2. Navigate to Settings → Custom Data.
3. Click on Products.
4. Click Add definition.
5. Set the Name as “Variant Collection”.
6. Set the Namespace and Key as custom.variant_collection (as shown in your screenshot).
7. Under Type, select “Collection” (this allows you to associate a collection of products).
8. Choose One collection (since each product should be linked to a specific collection).
9. Click Save.
📌 Step 2: Create a Collection for Product Siblings
1. Go to Products → Collections.
2. Click Create Collection.
3. Name it something relevant (e.g., “iPhone Colors” for different color variants of an iPhone).
4. Choose Automated Collection if you want to include products with a shared tag (e.g., iphone-variants).
5. Click Save.
📌 Step 3: Assign a Collection to a Product
1. Go to Products in your Shopify admin.
2. Select the product you want to assign sibling products to.
3. Scroll down to the Metafields section.
4. Find Variant Collection (custom.variant_collection).
5. Click Select Collection and choose the collection containing related product siblings.
6. Click Save.
Now, when a customer views a product, they can easily navigate between sibling products using the assigned collection! 🚀
